This information is relevant to all Year 3 classes.
Homework for Year 3 will be given out on a Friday, to be handed in the following Wednesday. Homework needs to be completed in the purple Homework book. Homework will consist of Reading, Spellings, 1x English/Topic Homework and Maths CGP work book.
It is essential that your child brings their reading books and signed reading records in to school with them every day. The children will be allowed to go to the library to change their reading books, as and when they need to, this is their responsibility.
As well as individual reading, children will also have a guided reading session with an adult at least once a week. Within the school there is a huge focus on guided reading with groups of children, to ensure children are comprehending what they read.
Please support your child by encouraging them to read daily, for a minimum of 15 minutes, and signing their Reading Record on a weekly basis. Even at this stage it is extremely helpful and beneficial if you encourage discussion about the plot, characters and what may happen in the story. Please ask your children questions about the story they are reading e.g. How does the character feel? What do you think will happen next? Why do you think that character has done that?
PE and Games:
Outdoor PE kit is required on Wednesdays. Indoor PE kit should be in school at all times as this may be required for other purposes.
Please ensure your child has the correct kit:
- Navy blue shorts
- Navy blue jogging pants
- White t-shirt
- Navy blue sweatshirt or jumper- no hoods or logos
- Waterproof coat
All kit should be clearly named. Kits will be kept in school at all times and will be sent home at the end of each half term. Please ensure the correct kit is adhered to as this will be checked on a regular basis.
Swimming will take place in the Spring term on Thursday mornings.
Outdoor PE will be taught on Wednesday afternoons by Mr Beeley or a trained Sports coach. Indoor PE will be taught by the Class Teacher once a week.
