Physical Education
All Pupils participate in at least two hours of PE per week through which we develop the six areas of activity as set out in the National Curriculum – Dance; Games; Gymnastics; Athletics; Outdoor and Swimming. An external coaching company Primary Sports Coaching Limited’ (PSCL) deliver all outdoor elements of PE. Mr Palmer and his team are highly trained in all aspects of the National Curriculum and provide excellent coaching and teaching for the children.
Children in years 3, 4 and 5 are given the opportunity to swim at Grand Central Swimming Pool (Life Leisure) and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25m.
In addition to the 2 hours of PE children participate in we also have a range of sports activities on offer to the children during Lunchtime. Mr Palmer ensures that there is always a variety of ‘pitches’ marked out so that children get involved in games and matches with other children, and pick up some tips for improving along the way. This activities include, a MultiSports area, football, hockey, basketball, tennis, swing-ball and during the summer months, badminton, and rounders, as well as traditional playground games also.
We also offer a wide range of extra curricular sporting activities, see our ‘Sports Clubs’ page for more details regarding these after school clubs and latest results / pictures from competitions and events we have attended!
Our PE Coordinators are Mrs Brokenbrow and Miss Swindells.
