The children were magnificent and sang beautifully as we were broadcast live to the nation on BBC Breakfast.
Our choir has been learning songs to celebrate the BBC’s ‘Get Singing’, an incentive to encourage children to sing, the event sat alongside the BBC’s world music day which will happen on 28/9/18.
We were joined by Ben Lewis, Managing Director of Young Voices and Wayne Ellington, a staff member at RNCM (vocal tutor) and finalist on ‘The Voice’ in 2017. Wayne is the founder of Manchester Inspirational Voices, a vibrant community choir based in the heart of Manchester. This year, the choir succeeded in reaching the finals of the Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year. The choir is one of his proudest achievements to date, as it seeks to give others access to things that gives him the most inspiration – the gift of singing. It was fantastic having him here, leading the children in singing ‘Sweet Chariot’.
The choir would be nothing without the fantastic support and passion shown by Ms. Loynes. Not only did she orchestrate the whole event, but she teaches the choir every week. Her passion, devotion and dedication brings out the very best each child has to offer.
