The Wriggly Nativity

I think we can all agree that all the children did a wonderful job in their Nativity. Thank you for your costumes and for practising the songs/lines at home. Remember you can still purchase the DVD of our show for £6. Please let your class teacher know if you would like to order one.

Grandparents’ Decoration Day

Thank you to all the Grandparents who joined us on our Decoration Day. The children all loved having you in our classroom and they all had a brilliant time. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and have managed to get the glitter off your clothing!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Over the past few weeks we have been very busy preparing for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who helped us decorate our outdoor area. It is looking very Christmasy! Also, thank you for the help walking to the post box walk to post out Nativity invitations!

Special People

This half term we have been looking at ‘Special People’ and what we would like to be when we grow up. During this topic we have had lots of special visitors into our classroom including a doctor, police men, the fire brigade and our vicar, Reverend Diane. They have all told us about their special jobs and how they help us.

Children in Need!

Thank you so much for all the donations we received today to go towards our Children in Need donation total. We started the day taking part in the Big Move nationwide live stream by Joe Wicks. We then learnt about Children in Need and had lots of fun completing Pudsey related tasks.

Busy few weeks!

These past few weeks have been extremely busy. We have been taking part in the whole school deeper learning week where we focussed on the story ‘The Selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde. We danced like giants,  used a variety of media to draw the giant’s garden, measured what a giant’s footprint would be like and compared Autumn and Winter through art work. We also developed our skill of printing by printing shapes to create the giant’s garden.

This week we have learnt all about Remembrance Day. We created medals for our friends who we are thankful for and we created lots of creations linked to poppies. Then we had a visit by Anne Jepson. She talked to us about oral health and informed us about healthy and unhealthy foods. We then enjoyed a variety of activities linked to teeth and healthy eating.

What an exciting first few weeks!

We have been enjoying learning all about Harvest over the past couple of weeks alongside our main topic of All About Me. We have learnt about where food comes from and why we should be thankful to lots of people, not only God, for the food we receive on a daily basis. We have tried a variety of bread and unusual fruits then we explored where in the world they had come from.

In Maths, we have been exploring a number each week from 1-5. We show the numbers in different ways, ordering them and we have been working on partitioning the numbers into part, part and whole.

We have enjoyed getting messy in the Creative Area too and had lots of fun at the Light Disco.

Welcome to Reception!

This week we have been busy settling into our new classroom. We have been playing with ours friends and we have enjoyed getting to know the other children in our class.

We have also stayed for lunch, which was very exciting! We all enjoyed our meals and happily played on the large playground with all the other infant children.
