The Ethos of St Thomas’ Church of England School
“The Christian ethos is evident in the way that pupils respect each other and the way that staff conduct themselves.” Ofsted January 2018.
At St Thomas’ CE VA Primary School, we seek to uphold the teachings of Jesus and are aiming to evidence these throughout all areas of school life as well as the curriculum.
Mrs Morris and her staff are supported by a team of children from all Junior year groups called the Ethos Group. This team help to lead and promote the school’s understanding of the Christian values as well as the impact they have on the way we live our lives.
Each half term, we study one of the Christian values in greater depth. This term, we have been looking at wisdom, what it means and how we can grow in wisdom.
We have learnt the following Biblical verse and thought about how it impacts our lives and the school community:
In Year 4 we have been working hard to provide work to send over to our partner school in Pakistan. In RE, we looked at different symbols of Christianity and what they represent; we then painted these on bunting for Mrs Morris and Miss Paige to take to our partner school. Mrs Morris has taken over blank bunting for the Pakistani children to decorate for us too – we can not wait to see it.
